How to Connect My Canon Printer to My Linksys Router
Linksys routers are devices that share computers and printers across a network. You can connect any machine to the router, including a Canon printer. Linksys routers have a service called a print server that allows you to connect printers and use them from any machine on the network. A print server assigns an IP address to the printer automatically, so every time you turn on the machine it receives an address and you can print from a desktop or laptop on your network
1. Power on the Canon printer and connect it to the Linksys router. Open a web browser on a machine that is connected to the router. Type the IP address of the router into the address bar of the web browser. For a Linksys router, the default is 192.168.1.1. If you have a username and password set, then enter it int the window that appears. The default username for the Linksys router is "admin" with a blank password.

2. Click the button labeled
"Set up Print Server" in the main configuration screen. This starts
the process to configure the router for your Canon printer.
3. Click the
"Next" button until you reach the screen that has a
"Refresh" button on it. Click the "Refresh" button to
obtain an IP address for the Canon printer. Click the "Next" button.
4. Select the option
labeled "Automatically assign an IP address." This setting gives the
printer an IP address each time it's started. Click the "Next"
button.
5. Enter a user name and
password for the Linksys print server settings. This restricts the printer to authorized
users. Click the "Next" button.
6. Enter a user name
and password for the router. If you want to keep the existing user name and
password, then just click the "Next" button.
7. Click "Next"
until you get to the "Test Print" page. Click the button labeled
"Test Print" to send a page to the printer. This ensures that the
Canon printer is working on the network.
